Connections, the encounters that stay
Many encounters begin with a camera and carry on for years.
A session puts two people, sometimes strangers, in front of the same truth. From there come friendships, confidences, presences that stay in my life.

When I started photographing I was looking for images. Over the years I discovered that photography was bringing me people, and every portrait began as an encounter.
For me a shoot starts with a conversation. We chat, we laugh, we tell each other small things and big ones, because whoever stands in front of the lens has to feel at home. Laughter loosens, and it loosens what each of us wears to protect ourselves. At that point the mask falls on its own, and in front of me is the real person, with their light and their hidden note. I listen to it, and for an instant I touch their soul.
They are people of ages, stories and worlds far from mine, whom I would never have met without photography. Some stayed friends, others became confidants, others a luminous memory I return to with gratitude. They are healthy bonds, made of respect, affection and that tenderness left after a shared moment of truth. People who let me portray them often say the encounter left them lighter, more seen, more themselves.
The photographs are the visible trace. The rest lives in the soul that showed itself and the trust that was given. We are made to be seen, and to see.
If you wish to live an encounter like this, write to me.
